♥...Tofu in Yoghurt Curry...♥

First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who joined my recent Giveaway! The GA which closed yesterday, 3rd July 12:00 midnight, received a total of 65 entries. A number that I did not expect at all!!!

A draw via random.org will be held in few days time and watch out this space for the winners announcement soon after!

Okay, back to today's post title. Tofu is one of my most favourite and I love to eat them fried, steamed, in sambal etc etc. This time, in a curry...that too a yoghurt curry. Perfect with plain rice.

TOFU IN YOGHURT CURRY by love2cook

Ingredients :~
  • 3 nos firm tofu ~ cut each into triangle
  • 1/4 tsp mixed spices (cumin, fenugreek, mustard seeds)
  • 2 cloves garlic ~ chopped
  • 1 cm ginger ~ chopped
  • 1 onions ~ sliced
  • 2 green chillies ~ sliced
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 large potato
  • 1 carrot ~ cut lengthwise
  • 1 large tomato ~ cut 4
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp fish curry powder
  • 3 tbsp yoghurt
  • 700ml water (depends on gravy thickness you desire)
  • salt
Method :~
  1. Fry tofus until all sides turned lighter brown. Sprinkle some salt over tofus once you place them in oil. Set aside the fried tofus.
  2. Keep abt 4 tbsp oil in wok and saute the mixed spices. Add garlic, ginger, onion, green chillis and curry leaves. Stir awhile and add potatoes.
  3. Add water, chilli powder, curry powder and salt. Cover lid and let boil for few minutes or until potatoes cooked.
  4. Add carrots and tomatoes. Allow to boil few times and add yoghurt, mix.
  5. Lastly, add the fried tofu and mix well. Check for salt. Dish out...

  46. Hi,
I tried this out yesterday. Simple & a wholesome meal. I find adding the yogurt didn't really make a difference in taste. I added it though. Next time I'll cube the tahu & mix with chilli powder, tumeric & salt to add some taste to the tahu.

    Thanks

    1. Good day Komala,
Thanks for trying this simple curry. To me, yoghurt makes alot of difference especially in curries. I'd only sprinkle some salt over the tofu pieces to give it some taste coz none at home takes spicy except for myself :)
Good tips there! Have a nice day :)

  47. Hi I added the yoghurt and it curdled a little, and actually came out tasting kinda tangy and bitter, did I do something wrong?

    1. Hi Rachel, did you left the curry to boil after adding yoghurt?

      Delete
    2. I added it right after it boiled, should I have waited?

      Delete
    3. You did right Rachel. But was the curry still boiling after you added the yoghurt? I boiled the curry, add the yoghurt, mix and add tofus. Then dish, no more boiling after adding yoghurt. Sorry it didn't turn out too well for you.
